Start Point: The bridge in Glen on the Mullach Bhéal Road @ O.S. Map 70 Q 491 084

Starting on the road from Cloghane to Mullach we follow a track towards Lough Croite
before branching off onto to a farm track after 300m and crossing a stream. We then start a
steep and unrelenting ascent of 700m up a spur to the summit of Gearhane at 803m
following a fence line known locally as Mary Ann’s wire.
After taking a well-deserved rest we start the descent passing above Loch na mBan nestled
below to Mullach Bhéal where the Siúloid na nGleannta crosses the col. We follow this way
marked trail down to Mullach and then have a leisurely walk along a quiet country road for
2km back to the walk start.
