The end of the walk

St Finbarr’s Pilgrim Path is a 35km route starting at the Top of the Rock in Drimoleague to St Finbarr’s hermitage in Gougane Barra.

It goes up and over 3 mountains and 4 valleys, namely the Ilen, Mealagh, Ouvane and Lee valley basins.

The walk will take place over 2 days.

Day 1 starts at the Top of the Rock Pod Páirc and heads for Castledonovan, Mullaghmesha and the Mealagh Valley arriving in Keakil. Distance 20 km, Time 7 hours at a leisurely pace.

Day 2 starts in Kealkil (Carriganass Castle) and takes us over the mountains to Gougane Barra. Distance 15 km, Time 6 hours.

Bus transfers will be arranged from start/finish on each day.
