Starting at the pet farm located in Baile an Lochaigh the walk in is initially along the floor of Com an Lochaigh valley which has a tendency to be wet. This takes around an hour.
At the head of the valley there are a number of waterfalls, after crossing the stream we approach the start of a a steep 500m ascent which starts with an easy scramble up a gully. Meeting a wall which runs along from below Brandon Peak we follow a well defined track North. There is a further steady ascent of 200m to the summit of Mount Brandon at 952m.
The descent from the summit is by the Pilgrim route to Cross no 5 where we divert to follow a shoulder running South West for 2 km before our descent back into Com a Lochaigh.
