Starting at the stream on Bóthar na gCloch we ascend the steep ridge directly to Caherconree fort. The ridge is quite steep for approximately 400 m with a short scramble up a gully at the top of the ascent before the gradient eases. After a quick break to admire the promontory fort it is a gradual climb taking around 30 minutes to the summit cairn of Caherconree at 835m.
Retracing our steps back to the fort we descend to the col and make our way up and along the ridge in a Southwesterly direction to the summit of Caherbla 586m.
Continuing along the ridge for 700 m past the summit we have a steep descent over rough ground to Bóthar na gCloch and a short walk downhill to our starting point.
