Our walk starts from the Conor Pass car park we head downhill in a northerly direction and pick up the track known as the Green Road. The track wends its way down below the car park for about 200 metres to Loch Broin.

Skirting to the left of this lake we begin our ascent of the shoulder to the left of Pedlars Lake, which leads to Sliabh Mhacha Ré at 620 metres; the highest point of the day. From here the walk descends about 50 metres to the plateau before continuing to Cruach Sceirde (608 mts) where we are rewarded with great views south over Dingle Bay towards the Iveragh Peninsula, west to the Skelligs and east to Castlemaine Harbour.

Our return journey retraces our steps over the plateau before swinging west back towards the Conor Pass car park. Note: some minor exposure on the Pedlars Lake shoulder, but only in one or two points and is manageable with care and attention to footing.
