Start Point: Parking area Knockmichael Loop@ O.S. Map 71 Q 835 080

Beginning at the parking area of the Knockmichael mountain loop we follow a small trail west across several hilly ridges until we reach the peak of the first mountain of the day Barnanageehy (482m) our next ascent. The views from here over to Baurtreagaun and castle hill are lovely if visibility allows. As we continue a little north west will bring us to the tip of Knockauncorragh (567m). We will then drop a little south west and skirt Gormagh before we begin our highest ascent of the day to Baurtreagaum (851M). Baurtreagaum (Barr Trí gCom) meaning top of the three hollows/valleys is the highest mountain in the Slieve Mis range. Our final summit of the day is quite easy going to reach from Baurtreagaum –  the stony broad summit of Caherconree (835m).

Our decent will take in Caherconree Fort and gradually return us to Bóthar na gCloch at Beheenagh
