From the lake we ascend the Annascaul Valley via the zig zag track until we reach a cairn at Q566066. Heading in a NE direction across open trackless mountain, we aim for the rocky summit of Stradbally Mountain (798m), before descending to the coll above Loch an Choimin and on to Beenoskee (826m).
An Com Bán (610m) via a steep rocky descent to the west and then veering NW is our next stop, before descending and ascending SW to the summit of Binn an Tuair (592m).
A steep SE descent on a rough grassy slope brings us to a stream at Q566084. We cross the stream and head South for 1.6 km to the cairn at Q566066 and retrace your steps back to the start point at the lake.
