Who Are We?

Hiking on the Blasket IslandsTá fáilte romhat chuig Cumann Sléibhteoireachta Chorca Dhuibhne.

Established in 1994, Dingle Hillwalking Club (DHC) is dedicated to exploring the best mountains, peaks, countryside and coastline West Kerry and its environs have to offer. We are a friendly, inclusive club whose members are hillwalkers and mountaineers of all ages, social backgrounds and experience.

The Dingle Hillwalking Club is a small club that enjoys good relations with the many landowners who graciously allow us access to their land. To them, the club extends great appreciation and gratitude. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.

 Walks

On our walks, we explore the rarely seen remote countryside, well beyond the roads and fields – places even most locals have never set foot. Our walks range in grade, length, pace and duration, giving our members choice and variety.

We operate a weekly schedule of Sunday walks.

The meeting point for all walks during the Covid-19 pandemic is at the start point of the relevant walk, usually at 10.30 a.m.

We occasionally take walking holidays and weekends away. In recent years, we have travelled abroad as a club on walking holidays (generally of one week duration) to the UK (twice), Canary IslandsAustriaItaly and Slovenia. We expect to continue this annual tradition for the foreseeable future.

We also have a very enjoyable club weekend away, usually in May, to explore the mountain ranges of adjacent counties and beyond. And of course, we feel obliged to sample the local hostelries in the relevant area!

Please get involved!

We strongly encourage members to get actively involved. This could be by attending several walks per year, volunteering to lead or co-lead a walk, making suitable walk suggestions, assisting on the committee or with specific events/tasks, or adding stories and pictures of the club’s activities to sharing sites.
