- Grade: B
- Length: 16 – 17 km
- Duration: 6 – 6.5 hours
- Height gain: 990 m
- Height loss: 1200 m
Start Point: Conor Pass Carpark
Starting from the Conor Pass car park we set off in a westerly direction to commence the first climb of the day. Our route follows the tourist track, taking in An Bhinn Dubh and soon afterwards Macha na gCab, followed by a short descent and climb of 45 meters to Cnoc Bhaile Uí Shé (623m). We now lose 225 meters in our descent to Mullach Bhéal.
Time for a short break before beginning the arduous ascent to An Géarán (803m), gaining 400 meters on the way! An ascent to Barr an Ghéaráin is not necessary as we continue on the track contouring across the shoulder at 740m. The path is relatively level until it hits the shoulder of Cnoc Bréanainn, where there is a final climb of about 200 meters to reach the summit at 952m.
Time for lunch before beginning the descent to Faha via the Esk. The descent should take about two hours in total, however extra care is needed in two places as erosion has caused the Esk path to deteriorate and a helping hand may be needed.
Having reached Locha Chom an Chnoíc, we pick up the track that contours above the Pater Noster lakes and finally brings us to the end of the walk at Faha car park.
